About Me

John VonhofWritersConferenceGuidelines.com is managed by John Vonhof. John is a writer published in many genres, in print and on the web. He has four books and two booklets to his credits. His articles have appeared in numerous Christian and secular publications, and on many web sites. John is a speaker at writers conferences, having taught at the Mt. Hermon, Florida, and Castro Valley Christian Writers Conferences, the Bay Area Independent Publishers Conference, as well as several smaller conferences. He is published in Christian and secular markets, and writes mostly nonfiction.

John has been on the faculty of the Mt. Hermon (2003-2011), Florida (2004-2011), Castro Valley (1999-2011), San Diego (2000), and Hercules (2001) Christian Writer's Conferences, The Bay Area Independent Publishers Association's Conference (2003 & 2005), and the Learning Annex (2000) in San Francisco. He has self-published four books and two booklets - two of the books have been picked-up by mainstream publishers, has been published in Christian and secular magazines, newsletters and Internet sites. He has published an e-zine for nine years and a blog for three years.

This website evolved out of an idea discussed at the Florida Christian Writers Conference in 2006 with author and speaker Jeanne Dennis. The discussion centered on how we, as faculty, could help writers become more successful with their conference submissions and have a more positive experience. The idea was a resource with writing helps so writers could go to the conference with queries, proposals, manuscripts, and articles that were more professional - and thus stand a better chance of getting accepted by editors, publishers, and agents.

I want you to be as excited as I am about this project. It is my goal to serve you through this site and make your conference experience better and more productive.
